![]() On Through The Night-Was this supposed to be on the previous album? Regardless its a hard rocking road anthem.ĩ. Lady Strange-My fav song on the album, lots of hooks and a memorable chorus.Ĩ. You Got Me Runnin-Attitude laden rocker with some anger in Joe's vocals.ħ. Switch 625-Instrumetnal showcase for Steve Clark's guitar skills.Ħ. Well done, with great use of harmonies, not as soft as some of their later ballads. Bringin On The Heartbreak-Their first "true" power ballad. High N Dry-The title track, has a slight blues tinge to it.Ĥ. Another Hit N Run-Not as good as the previous tune, but still a good anthemic rocker.ģ. Great tune and regarded as one of their best songs. Let It Go-Hard-rocking, AC/DC-esque song. Nothing offensive or bad here, this song just doesn’t pop for me and I feel it’s a bit self-indulgent. They try to keep things interesting with different sections and different tempo’s but it generally doesn’t work for me. The song improves some as the pace picks up. Overture – The first couple mins drag for me. Some good melodies can be found here as well. 3/5 Rating.Īnswer To the Master – This one is pretty cheesy but I like it anyway. It Don’t Matter – Nothing stands out with the verses (other than the guitar fills in the background after each line) but I like the chorus. Thank you, goodnight, wahoo! 4.5/5 Rating. Love the drums, stereo effects and Elliott’s scream that lead into the solo. This is the closest they sound to what was soon to come with “High N Dry”. Rocks Off – Great guitar on this song and love the live energy. Classic song and right there with “Rock Brigade” as my favorite on the album. I prefer the verses to the chorus but it’s all 80’s metal goodness. Wasted – One of Def Leppard’s best riffs and best songs. I probably could have done without the explosion at the end too but it’s fun. When the Walls Come Tumbling Down – The intro is hokey but the verses recover the song nicely. ![]() Overall, this is one of the weaker tracks on the album. The bridge and the solo are the strongest sections of the song to me. Not big on the “oh yeahs” in the pre-chorus. Satellite – This one doesn’t real stick with me. Corny and dated (With the echo) but catchy chorus. It Could Be You – Elliott seems to be pushing the top of his range in the verses but it works. I like the guitar harmonies after the 2nd chorus. Elliott is a bit shaky during the verses, in my opinion. The chorus is much stronger than the verses. Sorry Is A Woman – Pretty raw but it has some great melodies. Some nice drums but the song seems a bit wimpy to me. Hello America – This one is OK and catchy but kind of generic for the metal era. Great start and one of my favorites on the album. “Leading you away….Away….” After the chorus is my favorite part. Great song and agree that this should get classic rock airplay. It’s doesn’t stand up to the next 2 albums but it’s a solid and fun listen. The later always sounded a bit amateurish in comparison but that’s part of it’s charm. Like many, "Pyromania" was my first Def Leppard album and I worked back to "High 'N Dry" and finally to “On Through the Night”. Not what they would be known for, a different sound, but a good solid rock album sans the polish of later releases. Sounds like nothing that they would be known for later. Overture-The other epic of the album, kind of proggy to be honest. Answer to the Master-Another 70s style tune, with some Aerosmith-inspired riffs, especially in the chorus.ġ1. It Dont Matter-Another basic hard rocker, but it still works.ġ0. Rocks Off-Boogie tune with fake crowd noise at the beginning. The lyrics about drug and alcohol are kind of eerily prophetic given Steve Clark's battle with addiction (a battle he sadly lost).Ĩ. Wasted-After that epic we get this slightly punkier tune. When the Walls Came Tumbling Down-Starts slow with a narration and the pace picks up as the song gets heavier and heavier. It Could Be You-Fast paced rocker with a memorable chorus.ĥ. Still, the weakest tune here though IMO.Ĥ. ![]() ![]() Not one of the better tunes, but it does have individual parts that I like. Hello America-A bit commercial, you can tell they were aiming for the US market (though the single for this, ironically enough, was never released in the US).ģ. Surprised this isnt a classic rock staple like the Pyromania and Hysteria singles were.Ģ. Rock Brigade-We kick off with a hard rocking anthem that still holds up to this day. Decided to do this one for my next album-by-album thread.
